Vanilla Hist-Ro

I’ve noticed a lot of recent searches for historical romance titles without any bedroom scenes (ie sex free).

Admittedly, as a teen I was turned off by the love scenes…and recognize that some adults, too, might find the steamier romance books off-putting.

Therefore, I have collected a list of some of my favorite sex free historical romances.

  • The Wagered Widow by Patricia Veryan is a fun Georgian  romp appropriate for most ages.  Veryan has a long list of clean historical romance (mostly Georgian era) that are worth exploring.
  • Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind by Heidi Ashworth is a witty Regency full of highwaymen, a reluctant hero, and a meddling Aunt.  Funny and PG.
  • A Countess Below Stairs by Eva Ibbotson tells the journey of a Russian princess masquerading in an English Earl’s home.  Characters tend to be a little one-dimensional, but readers will enjoy Ibbotson’s attention to language and the focus on love from beginning to end.

I also recommend readers check out books by Marcia Lynn McClure.  She has a variety of titles in different eras and offers enjoyable, clean romances readers love.

Not to mention Georgette Heyer, of course.

Just to add one more PG Historical to the list–my mom’s third novel, My Love, My Enemy, has just been published by the family as a Kindle book. It is more historical romance than Regency in characterization, but there are lovely scenes in London quite reminiscent of Georgette Heyer. You can read the first chapter by going to http://www.JanCoxSpeas.com. Enjoy!
