The plate and description appeared in the September 1816 issue of Ackermann’s Repository. This charming cottage cluster meant to render the homes of the “laboring poor…ornamental” erstwhile saving the landowner considerable money in the construction was a fourplex with presumably occupants sleeping in the parlor or perhaps up the stairs into small rooms with limited windows.
