Regency Readers Recommend: More Funny Historical Romances!

My most popular posts of all time are my mega lists of funny historical romances including: Over 70 Funny Regency Romances, Top Ten More Funny Regencies, and My Top 8 Funny Regency Romances.

If you are like me, you are always searching for those laugh out loud moments that surprise and delight, especially when we could all use laughter and comfort these days.

So I asked my friends on Twitter , Instagram and the blog for recommendations on their favorite funny historical romances, and here is what they suggested:

1.  Mr. Impossible by Loretta Chaste: Rupert’s never met an entanglement–emotional or other–he couldn’t escape. Until now.  Recommended by: @dizzheart

2. Sense and Sensuality by Alicia Quigley: Everyone’s favorite, ever-practical Caroline, Countess of Eskmaine returns in full force in this After Dark novel. Recommended by Joanne Smythe

3.  When a Scot Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare is a favorite of literaryillusions on Instagram.  She finds Dare’s writing funny and engaging, and this one is promised to be of that laugh out loud caliber we crave.  Its also said to have one of the funniest meet cutes in historical romance!

4.  The Wallflower Wager by Tessa Dare is another recommendation for funny historical by literaryillusions.  The Duke of Ruin is the beast next door.

5.  A Week to be Wicked by Tessa Dare was another reader, Suzanne Brownrigg’s pick for funny historical.  A rompish tale with a fake engagement.  Count me in!

6. The Bridal Season by Connie Brockway was another recommendation by Suzanne who found it delightful and lol funny.  Victorian schemer/actress lands in a charming village and ends up masquerading as a wedding planner.  What could go wrong?

7. The Songbird’s Seduction by Connie Brockway was another of Suzanne’s favorite funnies.  It features an Edwardian opera singer on a mission to safeguard her ancestral home.

The Heyerites chimed in with their favorites for a good laugh:

8.  The Talisman Ring by Georgette Heyer was recommended by Lee Ann Roberts, Meher Oliaji, and Louise Culmer on Twitter.  A funny romp we adore and has snuck on to past lists a time or two.

9. Cotillion by Georgette Heyer is a tried and true fun romp and comes recommended not only by us, but by Louise Culmer, Alison from LBABooks and Vivienne Rivis.

10. Arabella by Georgette Heyer is one of The1MeowQueen’s favorite funny Heyers, and we couldn’t agree more!

11. The Devil’s Cub by Georgette Heyer has one of the burst out laughing scenes for RAdreamer.

12.  Faro’s Daughter by Georgette Heyer made Cassandra B Leigh laugh a lot.

And for some traditionals we haven’t mentioned before and recommended by Book Addict @TradRegencies:

13.  Miss Lockharte’s Letters by Barbara Metzger funny, comedic romp but with some tender and touching moments.

14.  Bath Scandal by Joan Smith.  Joan Smith is a great traditional read with funny elements throughout, and this novel has a merry widow humor happening.

15.  Lace for Milady by Joan Smith is written in first person memoir style with a prickly spinster heroine and an unpolished diamond hero.

16.Talk of the Town by Joan Smith features bickering MCs and Smith’s breezy, funny and short prose.

17.  The County Gentleman by Fiona Hill was the final recommendation for funny historicals.  A lost fortune and a country bumpkin neighbor make readers laugh out loud.

Thanks for all the contributions, readers!  I hope more readers can connect with some of these recommendations to make them fall in love and laugh.
